Our first goal is to raise $100,000 to complete the detailed design of the initial proof-of-concept ATOEM platform, which will be carried out by our collegue, Paul Moorhouse at Steel Fish. You can watch the design evolve here. The design phase should take about 5 months. We will then need to raise an additonal $200,000 for the construction, which will require an additional 7 months. Initial manned sea trials are expected to take 2 months, followed by 4 months of fully-autonomous trials at a total cost of $100,000. Additional sensors and extension of the autonomous scientific discovery capabilities by David Wettergreen at the Robotics Institute at Carnegie-Mellon is budgeted at $250,000.
